PROGRAM NOTES

she can be seen walking alone is inspired by stories personal and community based that weaves Hmong women’s experience with gender identity and their ability to find space, voice, and spirituality. What kinds of expressivity is possible in pushing through constraints upon us? What emerges when we dig into history and mythology to create images for present day survival?

Gratitude and love for: she can be seen walking alone cast for their offerings of love, openness, commitment, and truth through differences, challenges, tears, and self-reflection; the many Hmong women, artists, and activists who have been a part of its first stagings and conducted workshops; Ananya and my ADT family, Saab Leej Thawj Spiritual Healers, my parents for their love and continuous support, tais tais, my sisters and brothers, Josina, Robert, Billy, Louis, Pramila and everyone from PH+T.
